I participated in making a couple of westerns in Kanab, Utah in 1965. Carole Eastman, the writer of THE SHOOTING made the comment to me that the region in and around Kanab was "anal". Quite frankly, I didn't know she meant by that. Seeing this item, however, I think I now get it--terminal constipation.

So, a little common sense and sense of justice prevails.

It is a little uncomfortable to have Scalia on my side, but fortunately the imbecilic Clarence Thomas upholds the idiotic opposition.

Tree People

My good friend and perpetual social activist Peter Rashkin, directed my attention a few days ago to a certain "save the urban farm" escapade underway in riot-recovering South Central Los Angeles. He provided a link to their web site and I must say I was impressed. Not by their problem, but by their web site. Really professional.

The top order of business that day was a celebrity led inter-faith prayer vigil. Now I like celebrities as much as the next fan, but as a known atheist, I felt my stature would be compromised if I mingled with non-atheists, no matter how virtuous their cause might be.

As today's news articles state it, their cause was lost, but I have to wonder what might have been if only the Reverends Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton had lent their spiritual celebrity to the occasion.

I guess the conceit of this blog is that there are those who might be somewhat interested in what I think, but not what I do. From this you might deduce that I have been doing more doing these past couple of weeks than thinking. And that is somewhat the case.

Buying one home, while preparing to sell and move from another, is a major financial and logistical operation. It is, in fact, such an enormous undertaking that watching Julie handling it all is exhausting and leaves me little energy to think, ergo to blog.

If I owned a working, wireless laptop I could, of course, get away from all this distraction and start thinking again, but would any of us be the better for it?
